The Villa

This 2 bedroom bungalow villa stands on a wonderful hillside location, a short walk from the historic village of Plaka (see further details). The property boasts amazing views of both Souda Bay and the White Mountains. Due to what this lovely area has to offer, this is an ideal holiday retreat for both couples and families alike. The Villa backs onto the shared pool (only 2 other villas on the plot), and is surrounded by beautifully landscaped gardens, befitting the local area.

The roof of the villa, accessed by a side stairway, is an ideal 'suntrap' terrace!  We recently added a pergola and luxury outside furniture, so perfect for relaxing and watching the sun go down! Sun loungers etc. are provided. All balconies offer a view of either Souda Bay, the White Mountains, or both!

If you are driving, there is private parking outside the villa, which is gated. The outside areas of the house have external lighting, although it is advisable to take a torch as the local roads can be uneven.

You can look forward to a fun, relaxing holiday in the sun!

Outside
There are balconies leading off the lounge/diner and each of the two bedrooms. If this isn't enough outside space you can always walk up to the roof where there is a 67m2 suntrap. For alfresco dining there is a table and six chairs. Ideal for those warm, Cretan evenings. The pool is shared with two other villas on the plot, although one is not rented out and is generally empty.  It is approximately 25 feet long with a depth of 6 -8 feet. It is not attended. General Info

Beaches
The picturesque bay of Almerida is a 5 minute drive (10/15 minute walk downhill) where there is a variety of tavernas, bars, shops and money exchange. The gentle beach is ideal for young families and offers a variety of water sports. A further 10 minutes drive takes you to Kalives which has all of the above as well as banks and internet cafes.

Travel
Chania airport - 30 minutes drive.
Heraklion airport - 90 minutes drive.
Car hire is recommended although taxis are readily available.  Can recommend if needed!

Distances
Plaka village is a 5 minute walk, Almerida a 10-15 minute walk. 25 minutes drive away is the historic City of Chania, with a selection of excellent restaurants and tavernas based around the beautiful harbour and also within the windy streets that run off it. There are lots of individual shops selling a variety of goods, and the fabulous "leather street" selling, yep - lots of leather!

Further Details
Plaka square is a joy to behold, no doubt the reason it was used for some scenes from the legendary "Fiddler on the Roof"! It has 3 restaurants, 2 supermarkets and Takis bar. At the restaurants you will find traditional Cretan fayre, but the less adventurous will also find plenty of choice. Of course there are further restaurants and bars located close by within Almerida and Kalyves. Takis Bar is a great place to people watch over Plaka Square, and also shows English football/sports, though is by no means your traditional resort "Sports Bar", so you really can take it or leave it!  You cannot fail to relax in this traditional village square.
